Three years ago, my academic chairperson asked me to develop a new SCCC course that would encompass the 45 hours of ethics under Section IV. I did, of course, and the college academic review committee approved the course as did OASAS. Currently I am academically approved to teach ADS252 Professional Ethics and Cultural Competence in Addiction Services. I love teaching this class as I do all the other ADS courses I teach at Suffolk.

Mr. Rule is a published author in Counselor: The Magazine for Addiction Professionals (February 2010 Vol.11) and Paradigm Magazine (Vol. 16 No.1, 2011).

Also, Mr. Rule volunteers to facilitate group therapy at Catholic Charities Talbot House Stabilization clinic (crisis detox) and conducts volunteer community based clinical education and training throughout Nassau and Suffolk Counties.

The Institute for Learning and Development is the only OASAS Certified Education and Training Provider in Suffolk County, NY approved to offer on-line distance learning coursework and CEU Certificate of Completion for CASAC/CPP/CPS renewal.

  2. I see you were able to complete the Ethics 6.0 course Deborah and get your certificate. I would have helped you figure it out but I guess you did that on your own. Well done.
